In case anyone missed me (DID ANYONE MISS ME?), I've been sick. Well, I've been many things, but sick was one of them. I caught that galloping head cold making the rounds in L.A. In case you missed it more than you missed me, here's a fun sneeze: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkiT9vk1F90
Also, I moved from my home of over 9 years (leased it out) to parts west where I have been looking for a new place while I lead a vagrant gypsy life, down by the sea again, where the wind's like a whetted knife, à la John Masefield.
I can't seem to gain any equilibrium. I keep cresting, getting my head just above water and then I'm down again-- not down for the count, but I seem to be playing "catchup" every day.

Hey Marta,
ReplyDeleteI didn't get the flu but I got a severe sinus infection exacerbated by an infected molar. I've been in pain for weeks while I was taking care of both of my sick parents. Got the tooth pulled and I'm still in pain, but no where near as bad as before it was extracted. Dad is now using a walker, mom is down with the flu. I sure hope it doesn't go around.
How about if you feel sorry for me, then I'll feel sorry for you --and we each have five minutes...go!
OMG! The perils of Pauline. I'm so sorry you've REALLY been sick... and your poor parents, too. That's a shame. Wear a face mask. You can't afford to get that flu.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, dear Carole!
Oh geez, you're both down, and I hope you both feel better quickly! Let me know if I can do anything to help!
ReplyDeletePlease, feel better.
I was going to say: Are we talking Jiminy Cricket here? Is there a whiskered white mouse with red cabochon eyes in my pocket? Is it my split personality? Then I realized you meant Carole and me. Poor Carole! She seems to have had a bad run of it. I hope she's better in time for SGVLitFest!

Great blog! I tried making a comment but I don't think it took. I hope you're feeling better. Love, Katie
Thank you, sweet Katie. I am, indeed, feeling better! Keep trying...
DeleteHI PUPPA, nice to hear from you - hope you are happy with your decision to move.
ReplyDeleteI am since almost fifty years now living in my little house in Hamburg.
Are you coming to BERLIN or HAMBURG this year?
LOVE AND WARM REGARDS to your beloved mom.
YOURS SINCERELY, OLD FRIEND Ron
Hi Ronald! Thank you for your comment. I can't believe you've had the same darling cottage for all that time. It's sort of cheating, since you were so seldom home in your sailing-the-world days. ;)

ALOHA! DEAR FRIEND;
Soooo sorry to hear you were victimized with the nasty bug that is making everyone so miserable here on the mainland! Not so, in Paradise, at least not before I left. You have soooo much on your plate at this moment-- cannot imagine doing it all at the same time and not having real roots planted yet! Did you get the condo you wanted? Looking forward to the time when you are unburdened and a bit more settled-- we can sit down and chat.
OXOXOX ME
Lost out on mondo condo. God has a better plan. I also look forward to a chat SOON!

Marta, enjoyed your blog, mostly the best part-- what you're up to now. Couldn't comment. If I don't get those dumb captchas in two tries I bail out, and that's what I did.
No worries, Velda! I also hate those ¡#%$^%#! captchas and bail out after a few attempts. I hear they're going to change to graphic images, which will be easier.
DeleteHi Marta,
ReplyDeleteSorry you've been sick. You're moving to L.A.? Trying to be closer to the ocean or...?
Good luck on this great adventure! Brave! And thanks for sending the email.
Arlene
Thanks, Arlene, and thank you also for forwarding my link to your reading group. I appreciate that.
DeleteYes, re: THE MOVE. The idea is to get closer to the source of negative ions...

Sorry to hear of your illness, dear Marta, on the hard, hard road. Yet, I dare say, of such things are made inspiration. And that appears to be working in your favor as evidenced by the deftness of your writing hand.
But do take care.
With much agapic love as always, Doug
Dear One-- so good to hear from YOU, agapic one! Hope you have been well and that soon our paths shall cross on the Road of Happy Destiny. Forget the hard, hard road. Aren't we California Lutherans?
DeleteGlad you are feeling better and blogging again. Do you have a destination or are you winging it?
ReplyDeleteI thought I had a destination-- near the airport, near the water. But, since there is zero inventory, I am now casting my net wider. Who knows where I'll end up? It's all one great big adventure, Cora!
DeleteHope you're feeling lots better by Friday - and the Literary Festival. I'm really looking forward to meeting you!
ReplyDeleteI feel great right now. Let's hope it lasts. I hear some people have gotten back-to-back colds this time around. Oh NOOOO!
DeleteI can't wait to meet you at the festival. It's so great that you're making a cross-country tip to join us. Whoo-hooo!
So happy that you're back, missed ya. Great seeing you yesterday. I'm so thrilled for your next chapter, in life. See ya Saturday at the SGVLitFest. Augie
